Synopsis [F]ull of great energy and ambition....[T]here’s a laudable lunacy to HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS AT PARTIES.Fashion-tattered rebel music, pansexual healing, outré celebrations of the intergalactic brotherhood of outsiderdom -- who better to tackle this material than the gent who gave us HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH?Moving from an abandoned housing project to the companionable din of a punk-saturated basement, HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS AT PARTIES is a kitschy, spaced-out oddity.[A] candy-colored sci-fi confection set in 1977 London....Setting the film in the punk heyday underscores the film’s themes of personal freedom and defying authority. In the ‘70s, punk-loving teen Enn (Alex Sharp) attempts to crash a party in the London suburbs. He ends up at the wrong house where he encounters a kooky, conformist cult, which includes the naive Zan (Elle Fanning). They hit it off before Enn learns that she is actually a repressed humanoid alien on Earth to complete a fatal ritual. Enn appeals to the punk scene to help both emotionally and physically liberate the lady he's fallen for. Directed by John Cameron MItchell. Based on the short story of the same name by Neil Gaiman. Nicole Kidman co-stars.
